Scarborough Station

Construction of the line from York to Scarborough took twelve months and was completed in 1845. The official openin gtook place on Monday 7th July 1845. The first journey had two locomotives and thirty five coaches, taking three hours from York. Scarbourough has changed somewhat over the years and the journey time is now only 45 minutes.

There was at one time two stations in Scarbouorgh, a second station called Londesborough Road was situated just south of today's station and served excursion traffic. Close inspection reveals the platforms still in existance today.
